some groups have switched to x264/mp4 for sd releases for 7 days now. this switch is awaited/asked since many years. even if some old devices do not support x264/mp4, i think this change is for the best. xvid/avi has done his time. |

mp4 sucks and is a bull shit formate avi will always be king more trouble than is worth time to get my downloads from a better site that offers avi and i know a majority of the down loaders will do the same. so i think eztv has a limited life span left if they do not tell down loaders to go back to avi it is probably all over for this site. |

i have no doubt that some prefer the mp4 versions. some will also prefer mkv. others want the quality offered by 720p and 1080p. however there are a number of us who have been faithfully using eztv to download and share avis as they play in our dvd players (yup, perhaps obsolete) and it is only understandable when we get annoyed when the avis disappear and we have to go elsewhere. a shame really. |

i agree and prefer to download my files as avi as the technology for a dvd player that recognises mp4 /mkv format have only just been released and are rare or not even available in australia as as yet, and besides i'm not rushing out to purchase one. uploader - is there anyway you can do both for us who request avi format? as you can see we are not as far advanced as you wish us to be, is there anyway you can support both trends? posters - can someone please tell me about any other great websites where i can download body of proof, or all of the tv shows in avi format?? |

this vhs business you mentioned, proves how serious the new format you support is. i'd like to recommend fishing or whatever you do... it may clear your mind. |

you people don't know what you are talking about. mp4 is superior to avi, and the file size can be much smaller because of it. you are actually gaining quality with .mp4. it still streams to ps3 as well. this is the way things are headed, so get used to it. |

there is no dispute that avc/h.264 coding is better than xvid. .mp4 video quality therefore is better and files are considerably smaller. but since you know what you 're talking about, you may comment on the following sound issues (aac is the official audio format of the mp4 standard): 1. no standalones that playback aac are available at this time. 2. aac is heavily patented technology. 3. only a few hardware devices currently support aac decoding 4. aac is not yet fully s/pdif implemented. it seems to me that the audio part of mp4 is not yet fully acceptable. if audio has no value to you, fine. but mp4 is not fully ready yet for broad distributions. so until mp4 is ready, avi still fills the holes. get it? |

that may be true, for now, but for getting better quality with mp4, most of us do not have the cash to go out and buy a mp4 inabled dvd player, perhaps you would like to buy us all a new one?. as to "you people" comment, "how to make enemies and alienate people." |
