george w bush was still president in 2008. one of the articles you link to is for 2008. the economy isn't just going to get better overnight. obama could potentially spend the next 5 years on the economy and americans wouldn't see the difference until maybe the last 1 to 2 years (if he was voted in second term) of his second term, or 1 to 2 years into the next presidency. if obama does do some good for the economy, the next president will probably be the one taking credit for it. just like the system was being abused for years before the bubble burst and the economy went to crap, so too will it take years to rebuild. this happened on george w. bush's watch. and besides the bailouts, he didn't do anything to help the economy in the last year of his presidency. he just coasted. i'm not an expert on this subject, but it's clear republicans are using people's ignorance about these subjects to manipulate them into putting them back into control. and the 2 party system is crap anyways and so are the people's ability to judge politicians. obama may or may not be able to help rebuild the economy. but i'm less optimistic about it if republicans regain control. even without control the health care plan was changed, for the worse, through compromises with republicans. here was something that could have easily increased the average life expectancy of americans and really just improved the quality of life of each american, (similar to water and electricity in each home or public education) and they couldn't get it done right. i'm also not even sure the president has the power to do anything anymore. obama can't even close down guantanamo bay. he couldn't get the health care bill he wanted. how's he suppose to pass bills to help the economy? the republicans could potentially block any of his bills, right? let him take the blame for the economy, and get a republican president in the white house in 2 years. we live in such a dumb democracy. |

you're right about that. there are some democrats out there voting against these interests. i'm not really sure why they couldn't get that health care bill passed properly. but i was talking about if republicans regained control of the house and senate. where you see integrity for making a stand on the issues. i see corruption. there either has to be a lot of misinformation going to these politicians when they make their decisions or they are being endorsed by these insurance companies that stand to lose a lot of money if everyone had a public option of health care. i think we just have too many weak leaders in power. you don't have to be intelligent, or a strong leader to get in front of a bunch of people and give speeches. you just have to be a strong public speaker. that's what we elect on. i mean, you have to be pretty brain dead to repeat the same rhetoric over and over that a speech writer probably tells them to do. then when someone asks a specific question about that issue, you have no answer for it because you're clueless on the subject you're talking about. i've seen several politicians do this recently, and they are still going to get reelected. a politician can give speeches about their stands on certain issues to pander to voters, get elected, then completely "change" on those issues when they're in office. nothing happens to them when they do that. |

i agree with you on that. i think there should be stricter laws against politicians. maybe if a politician lies about their voting record they should automatically be disqualified from running for re-election or impeached. |

why would the mythbusters mess with their show by having a "big" guest, let alone this idiot? the answer: they live in the sfo bay area, home of you know who. there is something in the air of sfo that causes them to lose their minds. i have lost my stomach for these guys...i was on the edge when they have the chick talk about being a vegan, but kept at it. now, i have decided i won't watch them under any circumstances for one year. rip, good riddance. what a bunch of dumbells, and shining up the biggest one of all. i guess a trip to the dope's house and a big press conference is the capper of their careers. i predict a massive drop in their ratings on this one. stupid is stupid. |
