i have nothing but contempt for the sniggering fan boys who've come on here
rubbing their hands in glee at the departure of rtd, and of course anyone who
actually enjoys the show must be a fool or 'retarded', because if its not the
show they want then that means the show is rubbish, after all it couldn't just
be that they have lousy taste could it? no that's unthinkable, they're right
and the millions who watch every week are wrong! pathetic as well as
contemptible.

may i be the first to say job well done rtd and i hope to see his brilliance
reflected in future episodes

bunch of homophobics

not even going to wade in to the debate -

i did think it was poor form to post commentary in the middle of a story tho
that's what the board is for. give me the news, if i want insipid commentary
i will watch foxnews.

plus while rtd is stepping down i am sure he will still write an ep or 2 for
season 5 - and what does this mean for torchwood? and the sja? will steven take
over all three shows as exec? i don't know the british writers guild rules at
all, does sm get a royalty for creating cap. jack?

i do think that rtd's departure definatly set the 4 specials up to be a timewar
story. i can't see him leaving the show without doing it, letting someone else
tell do it.

i am pro donna. so nice to have an adult companion who is not fawningly in love
with the doctor, someone who can stand up to him. (the relationship reminds me a
little of romana early on, even tho donna is clearly not his intellectual equal,
she certainly is his moral equal.

so any thoughts on what this means on david staying on for series 5? richard
coyle as the doctor anyone? or tom nesbitt? i certainly see steven making more
links back to the orginal series, a proper multi-doctor story?

see, chumps? it's generally agreed that rtd is crap.

i don't mean to be rude guys ... but he's right. you'll find a larger
percentage of people over the age of 10 telling you it's a load of rubbish. the
definition of a family show is not that people over the age of 10 find it crap.
the definition of a family show is that people of all ages can sit down with
their families and watch it.

call us retards, call us homophobics. you're just mad we're not spouting the
same opinion as you.

and i'll have you know i'm not a retard, nor a homophobic. only time i dislike
the gay community is when it is being shoved in my face on a tv show.
gay-specific shows like the l word and queer as folk - yes. but i don't want to
tune into a science fiction show to see boys kissing boys.

ok, my personal opinion. note that *my* personal opinion.

rtd brought back dr who. a cult classic childrens show (yes guys, childrens
show), that had been shelved for far to long. he has built it up, and kept it
going for almost 4 seasons, and created 2 spin offs, both of which are also
popular in their own right now. (well, torchwood at least is, sja will get
there) he even brought it into family show territory. although i'm thinking its
turned more into adult or at least a pg rated show. some of those monsters are
too scary for kids now.

he introduced a try-sexual (spelling intentional) character that is turned into
one of the most loved characters in the who-niverse. it isn't overly shoved in
your face, unless you are homophobic and are sensitive to anything not
mainstream. homosexuality is becoming mainstream these days, no-one jumps up and
down about men kissing women do they? there is no difference except for an
outdated stigma, so who cares if jack is gay/bi/tri. don't like it, don't watch,
and don't bitch.

yes, rtd started to lose his way a little. the quality just wasn't quite the
same but you name one show that the same writer helmed that kept its quality all
the way through.

i am insanely grateful, and respecting of rtd for resurrecting a show i loved in
my childhood, and for knowing when to step down. i hope he continues to have a
hand in the show.

and i also like donna. started out hating her in the xmas special, but shes
grown on me. i love having a companion that isn't trying to
marry/seduce/kiss/trap/boink the dr. one that gives him a hard time instead of
following him like a puppy dog.

ok, thats my 2 cents. off to rewatch a few torchwood eps now
The5thHorseman Posted at 22/05/2008, 20:48
i don't see why people have a problem with the gay thing on torchwood. anyway
there is only one gay bloke, ianto, cpt. jack is from the future where everyone
f*cks everything, same with the character james marsters played (can't remember
his name).
i was reading comments about torchwood on imdb and 1 said 'it's a shame they
show homosexual behaviour, if it wasn't for this i'd let my kids watch.' does
this person think the gays are gonna corrupt his kids or something?
Pepin Posted at 25/05/2008, 01:47
i thought captain jack was bi my mistake!
NicNac Posted at 26/05/2008, 03:14
capt jack is try-sexual - female, male, and "other" :d

will try anything at least once.

spaztard Posted at 31/05/2008, 03:35
why did news of rtd going have to turn into a bitch about the companions? donna
is great, as were the other two. i'm glad that rtd is going but only because he
is being replaced by stephen moffat who has written the best episodes throughout
series 1-4. rtds episodes were off-track and the show needs a writer like moffat
or at least a producer who choses good writers for every episode.
what''s the point of continuing to watch the show if you hate it?! i love it,
it's pretty good now, but bringing in moffat will make it fantastic. keep donna
and maybe rose. martha is nice enough but a bit boring.
Ainokami Posted at 01/06/2008, 19:58
awful post. ungrateful, subjective, annoying.

i'll miss rtd, he's amazing and turned this show into something good(compared to
the old crap). moffat is amazing too, so i hope he'll continue to create awesome
doctor who episodes.

btw, lol @ all the homophobes and their low iq.
