Notes: Moths and butterflies, both belonging to the order
Lepidoptera, are often admired for their colorful
and intricate wing patterns.
There are approximately 20,000 species of
butterflies worldwide, each with unique
characteristics and habitats. Butterflies are
predominantly diurnal, fluttering about in the
daylight. The life cycle of a butterfly consists of
four stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa
(chrysalis), and adult butterfly. This metamorphosis
is one of nature's most captivating processes.
Moths, in contrast, are generally nocturnal,
preferring the cover of darkness, and possess more
subdued, earth-toned coloration that aids in
camouflage. Additionally, while butterflies
typically have slender, smooth antennae, moths are
characterized by a range of antennae shapes,
including feathery or filamentous types.
